Frequently Asked Questions

  • Yes, booking is required.
  • The easiest way to enquire about trip times and availablity is to use our Contact Us form.  You could also call our Skipper Ben Wilcock on 07796 214 154.

Please provide as much information as possible, inlcuding your telephone number and email address, along with your preferred trip date(s), the number of anglers and any other special requirements you may have.  We will then reply with the information you requested.  If you decide you would like to make a confirmed booking, we require either a credit or debit card number which must be taken over the telephone as we do not have a secure payment service on our website.  Your card will not be debited until the day of departure however it does mean that space will be held for you.

  • Yes, please ensure you arrive at either Cromarty Harbour or Srabster at least 15 minutes prior to your departure time. This will allow the boat to depart on time.
  • Occasionally it is necessary to cancel trips. Your safety is our primary concern and if we feel weather conditions on the day are unsuitable we will cancel the sailing. If the weather is very unsettled and, in particular, if you are travelling a long distance, we strongly recommend passengers confirm final details and weather conditions with us, close to or on your day of departure.
  • If Highland Sea Charters Ltd cancel your trip for any reason, any payment you have made will be refunded in full or, if you prefer, we will try to accommodate you on another trip.
  • If you have made a confirmed booking and then fail to appear for the trip you will be charged in full. We understand that there are sometimes genuine reasons for being unable to honour a booking, particularly if the booking is made well in advance. If you inform Ben, our Skipper, as soon as possible of any difficulties we will endeavour to resell your places for you, however we cannot guarantee that this will be possible, especially at short notice.
  • Generally people do not tend to get sick due to the fresh air but if the sea is particularly choppy there is a chance you may. If you tend to suffer from sea sickness we would recommend you take appropriate medication in advance of your trip. In the event of an angler suffering severe sea sickness, return to the harbour will be at the discretion of our Skipper. If there is sufficient time remaining, we will endeavour to return to the fishing areas but Highland Sea Charters Ltd accepts no responsibility for loss of trip time due to a passenger being returned to shore for medical reasons.
  • If you are pregnant or have a back problem please let us know when you make your booking so we can assess your individual requirements.
  • 2007 trips on the Honestas are available from the beginning of July until the end of October, as always, weather permitting. Outside this period, please contact us to check availability or to arrange an out of season charter.
  • Lifejackets are provided and must be worn at all times on our trips. We also recommend you dress warmly as even during summer it can get chilly on the sea. Waterproof clothing is highly recommended. Non-slip footwear is essential. No high heels.
  • Whilst we make every effort to accommodate a range of disabilities, the style of boat is such that a degree of agility is required. Please contact us directly and we will be happy to discuss your individual requirements in more detail.
  • Passengers are free to take cameras aboard however they do so entirely at their own risk. We would recommend that if you are intending to take a camera to protect it in a suitable waterproof pouch. A small disposable waterproof camera is probably the safest option.
  • Our sea angling trips are not suitable for young children under the age of 8. We do insist that any child between 8 and 16 years are accompanied by a responsible adult.
  • We can offer B&B Accommodation on board Honestas when tied along side.  If that's not for you please see our links page for accommodation providers.
  • Please contact us with your idea and we can discuss your idea further.
