The Honestas out fishes 4 other local boats to win the Scottish Police Force competition!!

Many thanks to the Scottish Police Forces  who came off on Friday the 20th for their competition.  Despite the weather, a good time was had by all and congratulations have to go out to Tom Lessels (Grampian Police) won the prize for most species - six, and Gus Boath (Fife constadulary) with the heaviest fish a 4lb 7 oz cod.

Thanks to Gus (Fife Constabulary) for the really positive feedback (see below), looking forward to seeing you all again soon.

Hi,
I was with the Police competition on Friday on your boat and had a thoroughly enjoyable time, in spite of the rough weather.  Your boat will be highly recommended by me to all my friends who are looking for a fishing charter.  You obviously know your stuff and were keen to satisfy the anglers demands.  Well done.
Your dad took a photo of me with my cod - it weighed 4lbs 7 oz - and won the prize for the heaviest fish of the day.  I would be obliged if you would send me an email with the photo attached - just another for my album.
Again, many thanks for an enjoyable day aboard your boat.

12 June

It has been a busy week for the Honestas crew.  Having finished one trip, we were straight back out again with little rest and steaming off to Scalloway ready for the boat to go onto the slip at the harbour.

Needless to say the boat caused a bit of a stir at the harbour with a great many cars coming alongside for a quick look.  Once on the slip a few more on lookers made themselves known, and it was great to hear what memories local people had of the boat.

The Cooks Report

Thanks to the Chorley lads for a top weekend's fishing around the west cost of Shetland, it was a successful weekend and we really enjoyed having them on board.  Congratulations have to go to Simon for catching not only the first fish but also the biggest, hauling in a
17lb thornback , oh and next time Pete get the common skate on board!

It was a really good weekend, lots of different species hauled aboard, ling, haddock, dabs, coal fish and more.  So cheers for the laughs lads, and here's to the next trip!

While looking around my parents house in Shetland, I came accross a photograph my father took of me when I was 15.  This is just an example of what you can catch in Shetland.  I think the fish pictured was about 8ft across, but in the end it was worth the effort.

The Honestas has moved north!  After a poor start to the season in Cromarty (where we caught very few fish) I decided to move the Honestas up to the Shetland Isles. Being from Shetland, I have first hand knowledge of the area's fishing grounds and can guarantee you'll find very few places that can offer what these islands can when it comes to sea angling.  In fact, the current world record holding ling and tusk were caught in Shetland waters, at just over 88lbs and 15lbs respectively.

But fear not, if Shetland seems a little far away the Honestas will continue to keep her ties with Scotland as I will be running trips from Scrabster too. In fact the boat will be down in Scrabster next month, for a planned trip to explore the Pentland Firth. There are still dates available for this summer, and if you have an idea for a trip or want to explore the waters and voes of Shetland or the north coast of Scotland give me a call and I will book you in.

Whether you come up to Shetland or Scrabster, I can guarantee you an experience not to be missed. The boat looks great after all the refurbishment work that has been done over the winter and the space on board makes any trip just that bit more enjoyable.
